Alstom has signed a contract to supply Harbin Company Limited (HTC) with two sets of GT13E2 gas turbine generators for Huaneng Power International's (HPI) Suzhou gas-fired combined heat and power plant in the city of Suzhou in China's Jiangsu province. The new plant will have an installed capacity of 400MW to help meet the energy needs of the city's south-western areas.

The value of the contract is approximately €40 million and the two new sets are to be delivered in early 2014. The total cost of the plant is estimated at RMB 1.474 billion (€182 million).

This is the third gas turbine order awarded by HTC to Alstom in the last nine months. Earlier orders during the 2012-2013 fiscal year included the supply of two sets of GT13E2 gas turbines for HPI's Tongxiang plant in Zhejiang province and one GT13E2 gas turbine for a combined-cycle power plant in the city of Shenzhen, owned by Shenzhen Nantian Electric Power Co., Ltd.

"The third contract with Harbin Turbine Company confirms our gas turbine business's return to the Chinese market and the reliability of our GT13E2 technology, which has proven its suitability for China," said Mark Coxon, Senior Vice-President of Alstom's Gas Business.

HPI owns and operates power plants in 19 Chinese provinces, municipalities and autonomous regions of China. The company has a total controlled generation capacity of 60 317MW.
