By April 13, a training program had been going on for more than a month for the local staff of the terminal storage tank farm project in the East African Crude Oil Pipeline Project (EACOP)

Located in Chongoleani of Tanga, Tanzania, and near the Indian Ocean, EACOP is a key construction project for the Tanzanian government. The project comprises three sub-projects: a storage tank farm, a terminal area and a wharf. Construction of the storage tank farm and terminal area is conducted by CNPC Daqing Oilfield Engineering and Construction Company.

Based on EACOP, hosted by Tanzania Branch of CNPC Daqing Oilfield Engineering and Construction Company, and organized by Sunmaker (Tanzania), VETA-TANGA and Arusha Technical College (ATC), the training program offers courses for eight different positions, namely, H3SE inspector, electrician and instrument operator, heavy machinery operator, welder, tank assembler, corrosion protection worker, lift operator, and pipefitter. The program plans to train 170 local workers for the projects.

To promote the nurturing of skilled local personnel, CNPC will regularly conduct skills training programs for local staff of EACOP. It will also apply its best practices to projects in other countries, in order to help increase local employment, benefit the socioeconomic development of host countries, and deepen the mutual trust and bonding between CNPC and local people.
